A Message from TFT Parade President Robert Kuczera

We have only a couple of weeks to Parade Day. Some things you should know. There is a very good chance Parade start will be at 9 am. If the weather is like it has been the last few years in high 40’s or 50’s we will start at 9 :00 clock. This will remove the back up in the Dan Ryan Woods and on Western Avenue due to the amount of the bikes that now attend on our sunny, 50 degree days.

There will also be a Toy Express Drop-off Area for those motorcyclists that do not want to participate in the procession to the Marine Reserve Center. It will be on the northeast corner of 87th Street and Western Avenue.  It is the lot that is also used for overflow parking near 87th. There will be an electronic sign also indicating the same.

We are entertaining having pins available at that express site locations as many riders would purchase them and leave.

Tagging Day will be on Sunday, November 20. We will meet at Pindos Restaurant located at the corner of Archer and Pulaski. Wear your Toys for Tots Products so we can easily be spotted along Western Avenue. Wear lightweight shoes as you will be getting in and out of vehicles to post up our signs and flyers all along Western Avenue. We will be tagging (posterizing) from 9500 south to 5400 north and on Foster.

Be at Pintos at 9:00 if you want breakfast. The meeting will start at 10:00 am with a noon departure to do some Toys for Tots talking.

On Thanksgiving Day, we will assemble at the Koffee Kettle Restaurant to eventually meet with Bill Wildt of “Motorsports Unlimited” near the Museum of Science and Industry. Instead of playing football, we will ride motorcycles to the spot where the first automobile race was held over 100 years ago. We also will be doing the Toys for Tots talk about our Parade. Everyone gets interviewed for his TV show at The Rock.

If you would like breakfast at Koffee Kettle be there before departing at 8:30 am.

To our members, all Riding Road Blockers in Tier One, Tier Two, and Tier Three, we are asking you to become permanent stationery road blockers upon arriving at North Side street intersections .

Due to the amount of participants, safety is number one to maintain this Parade. The density of people on the north side has made it necessary to have our experienced volunteers drop back and man a unblocked corner. It is burdening you with a few more extra hours of managing the safety of all those participating. But this is what we do to have a parade and we are ultimately responsible for all the cause and reactions that day.

We need your co-operation in doing more than you have done in the past. This has been well received with the city to increase the amount of street corners manned by our volunteers.

Tommy Rotto will be explaining how each Tier will effectively be responsible for manning additional corners along Western Avenue after movement of the majority of their Tiers.

Also on the day of the Parade, be it balloon, parking or product people, upon your tasks being done, hit the streets.

Santo and the 87th Street crew need more volunteers in the back at 87th. We need everyone to go beyond your normal duties and help wherever you can. The lot itself needs more managing upon the first Tiers being disbursed. If you are not sure what else you can do please ask at the General Meetings. Also very vital are the alternate emergency routes.  Every one of our volunteers needs to know what arterial northbound streets will be used and starting where.

Please pay attention at meetings, as this is very important to the city as it can take us off Western due to a fire, etc. This can happen anywhere along the route and you must know if Ashland or Damen is to be used from where to where until we can re-group. There is a lot going on and we are asking for your help the entire Parade time, which is generally about 5 hours. We need it from start to finish, so we can maintain our claim as the World’s Largest Motorcycle Parade.

Thanks for your help and extra commitment this year.

Sincerely, and thanks Robert “ Cooch” Kuczera
