Jack's Update #50- Part 2   September 30, 2004

The Financial Gift Presentation

The annual evening of financial gift presentations, from the Parade Organization to dozens of charity groups and families, took place on Friday, September 24.

The evening began with a video which showed some of the ways the Parade Volunteers give back to the community The film included scenes of the members visiting children in Loyola Hospital, Maryville Home, Little Company of Mary Hospital and Saint Joseph's Carondelet Center.

Then, President Cooch and VP Tommy Yarber began the presentation of the jumbo checks.  Each of forty groups was introduced and presented a check for $1000.

The visiting representatives were then given an opportunity to tell the assembly about their work with children. These stories proved to be the most moving and emotional parts of the ceremony. Some of the hospital workers told of how children overcame terrible physical problems with help from a dedicated staff and special medical equipment.  Scoutmasters, nurses, clergy members, and fathers and mothers, each told us about their needs, and then gratefully thanked the "bikers" for their generosity.

One of the highlights of the evening was the rousing "Thank you" dance performed by the young people of The American Indian Center.

The Parade Organization thanks everyone who purchased a Parade Pin, or T-shirt, or ornament, or raffle ticket, or gave a check, for only with your support are we able to assist these deserving people.
