Jack's Update #50    September 30, 2004

General Meeting #1

The first General Meeting of 2004 will be Friday, October 1, 2004.  With only 2 months until the Big Day, there's lots of preparations to make and things to get organized.

At this meeting, and those that follow, the heads of the various Parade Committees will explain what needs to be done in their respective areas.   Parade merchandise will be available for purchase, there will be door prize and split-the-pot raffles to get in on, and refreshments will be on hand for a small cost.

Anyone who would like to become a Parade Volunteer is welcome to attend. It takes a lot of work, from a lot of people, to pull off the world's largest, oldest, and greatest motorcycle parade.  Remember, you do NOT have to own or ride a motorcycle to become a Parade Volunteer.

For all Parade Meetings and Events, their times and locations, check the Parade's website calendar at  http://chicagolandtft.org/calendar.htm .

The 2004 Kick-off Party

The 2004 Kick-off Party was a great event.  It was good to see old friends again, and it was great to see so many new faces.

President Robert Kuczera welcomed everyone, and introduced the members of the Board of Directors, to begin the Parade's 27th year.

The food was delicious, we thank everyone who contributed to the buffet table.

After dinner, TFT Member Tony Rome and the Wanderers took the stage, and got the VFW rocking.

Tony was also accompanied by Parade regulars Artie Waner, George Gora, and the peculiar Biker Bob for a few tunes.

It was a great way to kick-off the new Parade season.

2004 Parade Merchandise
All the exciting, new, 2004 Parade items are now in stock and available for purchase.  The 2004 shirts and jackets, with a classic white-on-black design, are already getting rave reviews.  There is a large selection of TFT Parade apparel to choose from, including T-shirts in short-sleeved, long-sleeved, and pocketed styles, sweatshirts, tank-tops, and the very popular TFT Parade Jacket.

The new TFT Parade Christmas Ornament is also available.  This year, the collectible orb will have a satin red finish, with a white design of the Parade's Mascot, Biker Bear, on his motorcycle, with the skyline of Chicago behind him.  This ornament is the second in a series of Chicago TFT Parade Ornaments, which started last year with the beautiful white ornament of 2003.  Both ornaments are now for sale at only $10 each.

Our most popular Parade item, the 2004 Parade Pin, is now in stock.  Many riders proudly wear a collection of over twenty Parade Pins on their jackets.  For TFT Parade Pins, see Lovely Linda the Pin Lady.

Other important promotions of The Parade are the two big raffles that are about to begin.  In our 2005 Harley raffle, someone will win a 2005 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide this March, and thanks to our friends at Oak Lawn Harley-Davidson, this beautiful bike will include a second, custom TFT Parade decorated gas tank.  Our other raffle, the Black Hills Vacation Raffle, will award the lucky winner with a great vacation package at the Black Hills Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, including motel reservations and spending money.  The winning ticket will be drawn at the big swap meet and bike show held in February at McCormick Place.

All Parade Merchandise will be available for purchase at the General Meetings held at the Stempien VFW.  Some Parade Merchandise is available at Oak Lawn Harley-Davidson  To view all the new 2004 Parade items go to http://chicagolandtft.org/products.htm .
