Jack's Update  Update  #40    November 2003

The 26th Annual Chicagoland
Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade
9:30am  Sunday, December 7, 2003
The Dan Ryan Woods - 83rd Street and Western Avenue

Only one month to go!  Can you believe it?

It seems like the 25th TFT Parade was only a few days ago, when actually it was months back.  Soon thousands of motorcyclists will converge on Chicago as they mark the start of the Christmas season with everyone's favorite motorcycle event, The Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade.  We say everyone because even Santa Claus himself will come to town to lead the riders up Western Avenue.

So now is the time to get busy and prepare for the big day.  It's time to go out and purchase toys, time to get your cycle ready to go, and it's time to find your long underwear, just in case.

Parade Day, Sunday, December 7 is just around the corner.

Toy Distribution

The TFT Parade collects toys and delivers them to the USMCR Toys for Tots Program.

The USMCR TFT Program then distributes the toys to many local groups including various churches, public and parochial schools, hospitals, and neighborhood aid organizations.  It is these groups that deliver the toys to deserving children and families.

The USMCR does not deliver toys directly to individual children or families.

Anyone who wishes to receive toys for underprivileged children should contact their local church, school, hospital or community aid organization.

All neighborhood, charitable groups seeking toys to distribute should contact the USMCR Toys for Tots Program at 3034 West Foster, Chicago, 60625 or call 773-539-7393.

Parade News

The USMCR Toys for Tots Program needs toys for all children, from infants to teenagers, but we especially need gifts for young girls between the ages of 10 and 14, so please keep them in mind when you're shopping for toys. Batteries are also needed, so if your gift uses them, please include extra batteries with your gift, or consider giving a box of batteries as your gift.  Remember that we want to discourage the donation of stuffed, plush animals because they bring many health problems with them. Instead, consider donating sports equipment, games, books, dolls, toy vehicles, crafts, etc.  And remember, do NOT gift wrap your gifts.

The newest addition to the Parade Product line-up is the 2003 Chicago TFT Motorcycle Parade Christmas Ornament. This custom, limited edition, glass ornament will look great on your tree, or displayed by itself.  It features the full color Chicago TFT Parade patch on a solid white globe.  Be sure to get the first Parade Ornament now, because rumors say this may be the first in a series of Chicago Parade Ornaments.  See the 2003 Chicago TFT Motorcycle Parade Ornament on the Product Page at http://chicagolandtft.org/products-two.htm .
