Ed Johnson Memorial Services and Procession
For everyone who couldn't attend the Memorial Services for TFT Parade Member Ed Johnson here is a recap of the day.

The memorial services started at The Grace Episcopal Church in New Lenox, Illinois. The relatively small church was completely filled with Ed's family and  friends, and many people who couldn't get inside stood in the vestibule to hear the service, or watched the service over closed circuit TV in other parts of the church.

Reverend Susan Sommer presided over the services and said in the Homily that it was a blessing that he was still riding at 83 years old, and that our lives were "infinitely richer" because of him.

There were approximately 100 sidecars and cycles parked around the church, with riders representing dozens of motorcycle groups.

After the first service, Ed's widow, Marilyn, on her sidecar, led the many sidecars and bikes in the motorcycle procession to the second church in Munster, Indiana. The group was escorted only to the village limits by the local police, but then TFT Parade President and Vice-President, Mark Atilano and Bob Kuczera, took over as road-blockers for the greater part of the journey. The weather was cool with a cloudy overcast and Ed's daughter Jeannine mentioned that her Father always preferred to ride in these conditions.

One hour later, we arrived at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, in Munster, Indiana. We all enjoyed our last ride with Ed.

The burial service concluded with Ed's ashes being placed in the church's "Garden of Remembrance".

The next day, a story about Ed Johnson's Memorial Services was on the front page of the local Herald News newspaper. It included three color pictures.
