Parade News

 

The estimated number of riders in the 2002 Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade was announced at the December 13th De-Briefing Meeting, with approximately 18,000 riders participating in the 25th Annual event. The total was a bit less than expected, for apparently some motorcycles, or their owners, were not prepared for the freezing temperatures. Thanks again, to all those hearty riders who braved the weather and participated in The Parade's Silver Anniversary cyclecade.

Since The Parade, the Parade Volunteers have been busy collecting, sorting and delivering toys to thousands of underprivileged children. Thanks to our members who have escorted Santa and his elves and our characters, loaded with toys,  to dozens of Chicago and suburban schools, hospitals, and homes. And thanks to everyone who has worked in the Parade Warehouse.

A special thanks to Mark and Gina Atilano for the countless hours they've spent working in The Parade Warehouse. Gina's brains and Mark's brawn have made many families and groups very happy. They are still collecting, buying, sorting, assigning, boxing, and delivering toys. So Mark and Gina, great job. Thanks for all you do! 

 

Coming Events

 

The Chicago TFT Motorcycle Parade TV Show New Year's Eve Special will be seen at a special time of 6:00pm. Be sure to tune in to Chicago cable channel 21 on Tuesday, December 31st for the final TFT Parade TV Show for the 2002 season. Join Mark, Cooch, George, Tommy and Jack as they ring out the old year and ring in the new starting at a special time, 6:00 pm. Call in to talk with the hosts and guests, live starting at 6pm. Don't miss the final show!

 

The Annual Polar Bear Ride will take place on January 1, 2003. Starts at Noon at Crete Harley-Davidson.  

 

There will be a TFT Parade Meeting on Friday, January 3 to receive nominations for positions on The Board of Directors. All TFT Parade members are encouraged to attend. The meeting starts at 7:30pm at The Stempien VFW.

 

The Board of Directors Meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of January, the 14th, at the Stempien VFW at 7:30pm. All members are welcome. This will be the last opportunity to submit nominations before the election meeting.

 

The Annual Election Meeting will be held on Friday, January 31, 2003. All members should attend and vote. The meeting starts at 7:30pm at The Stempien VFW at 47th and Tripp.

 

Be sure to look for the Chicago TFT Parade Booth at The International Motorcycle Show in Rosemont, from February 7-9. Remaining Parade merchandise will be available as well as raffle tickets, ceramic Biker Bears, and Hot Wheels bikes.
